Health and physical fitness are those habits that many people struggle with, it is much easier to eat take away foods and relax in front of the TV than what it is too prepare veggies and go to a gym. What many people do not realize is that the extra effort of fitness is actually a long-term investment toward a healthier and more active life. Keeping fit and healthy not only allows one to loose weight and boost your metabolism, but it aids in stress relieving, relaxation and higher energy levels. Health and fitness routines should begin from a young age; it is much easier to incorporate habits into a young daily lifestyle than what it is to learn something new altogether.
Obesity in children is an epidemic that we are faced with today. The problem associated with obesity is that it can lead to a number of problems including diabetes, sleep apnea and asthma. Moreover, children who are obese often suffer from low self-esteem levels and lack self-confidence. Health and physical fitness therefore aids in many aspects of a child’s life and as a parent, one should motivate and encourage your child to exercise more regularly. Healthy eating is one of the most important aspects of leading an active lifestyle, by following a healthy diet one prevents unforeseen illnesses for example diabetes, and energy levels and metabolism rates are at an all time high. Healthy eating should not be forced on the child in the family who is obese alone; in fact, habituating your whole family toward healthy eating will mean that you are taking care of everyone’s health. Unhealthy diets may possibly lead to heart attacks and strokes later in life and to higher cholesterol levels, something even the younger generation is suffering with today.
Health and physical fitness should be incorporated into every aspect of your child’s life. Lets take for example your child’s daily routine, instead of dropping your kid off at school in the mornings or having him or her take the bus, buy them a bicycle (this is of course if the school is no longer than a 20 minute cycle away). A bicycle ride is great for burning excess calories and will automatically aid in increasing your child’s overall endurance level. Secondly, pack healthy lunches, for example, whole-wheat sandwiches taste good and they will keep your child healthy. Burgers and fries are far too often the norm for regular lunches, this not only results in unhealthy eating and felling sluggish but it may have fatal consequences for the future. Your child should also be encouraged to participate in the physical activities at school, for example, football or basketball. Heath and physical fitness does therefore not consist of daily routines of traveling back and forth to the gym, it is just simply a change in one’s daily lifestyle and activity levels.
