Kettebells
Kettlebells are the more common term given to girya. Kettlebells look similar to a cannonball that has a handle and is made from a cast iron weight. The origin of girya or kettlebells is Russia. Kettlebells date back to ancient times where it was a tool used by strongmen. However, kettlebells have enjoyed a revival in use thanks to Pavel Tsatsouline, who is a coach in strength and flexibility.
The revival of kettlebells only began with Pavel Tsatsouline and many companies are now buying into his original idea by producing their own ideas. There are now many different brands of kettlebells and their respective exercise programs that are available in the market.
Kettlebells offer a person fitness that is experienced all round, and includes cross-training. Kettlebells assist a person with increasing one’s over all strength, endurance, balance, agility and cardiovascular system. This is possible due to the way in which kettlebells work with a person’s total-body movements.
Kettlebells are now used in a sport known as kettlebell lifting or girevoy. This sport is recognised on a national level and has been played in Russia for a number of decades. The two competitive exercises that are performed are called ‘The Kettlebell Jerk’ and ‘One Kettlebell Snatch’. These exercises are then performed respectively using kettlebells, for exactly ten minutes each. At the end of the competition, the person with the highest overall score will win the competition.
Kettlebells that are adjustable are also known as dumbbells with a suit-case like handled. However, these are not safe forms of kettlebells because there is a lack of circular structure an subsequent flat bottom. Newer versions of these adjustable kettlebells are an improvement on the original forms. These are great for offering a wider selection of kettlebells to people who are keen to use kettlebell training.
Kettlebells can be used in a specially designed program that is made up of a number of unique exercises. These exercises include a series of multi-faceted, modular exercises that have been created and tested by the world’s number one trainers. These exercises which use kettlebells are combined into an amazing strength and conditioning system.
Programs and their respective exercises using kettlebells are selected based on the individual wants of the clients. In this way, a workout is created that will never become boring and will continue to give the clients the results they want to see. It is therefore an amazing program to follow.
Kettlebells are easily available for under $200, which makes it an affordable exercise program to follow. However, it is possible to use alternatives if you are unable to find kettlebells. Free weight exercises can be performed with any one of the following – kettlebells, dumbbells, weight plates or barbells. The choice is up to you.
