Olympic Weight Lifting

We al know the general concept of weight lifting. Olympic weight lifting is something totally different from power-lifting or any other sport specific training. Where other weight training sports entail performances of the dead-lift or the use of free weights, Olympic weight lifting consists of only two lifts. The Snatch is an overhead lift. This means that the barbell is lifted from the floor to overhead in one motion. The Clean and Jerk means that the barbell is lifted from the floor in two stages. Stage one is the Clean and it is the lift of the barbell from the floor to the shoulders. Stage two is an overhead lift in a split of lunge position.
